About Myself

Late Mr. Sumant Moolgaokar,

Ex. Chairman, Tata Motors

My Greatest Source of Inspiration.

He propagated the Philosophy “Customer Affection”, before phrase “Customer Satisfaction” became a popular slogan.

His advice to all of us working in Tata Motors was “Major Attention to Minor Details”

My name is Rameshchandra M. Parkhi. I have worked with Tata Motors for about 33 years. After my retirement from Tata Motors, I worked as a Consultant /Advisor in many organizations like Mahindra and Mahindra, Kirloskar Brothers, Escorts and a few Auto Ancillaries. I did play an important role to win prestigious Deming Prize, Deming Prize, one of the highest and longest- running global awards for Total Quality Management (TQM).

Since my days as an engineering graduate trainee, I have a passion for solving technical problems and have solved hundreds of technical problems during my career in Tata Motors. My skills in technical problems solving have helped in :

  1. Faster Launch of new products,
  2. Improve Quality and Reliability of the products
  3. Dramatically improving Reliability and reducing warranty costs of the vehicles

However, my analytical skills were truly channelized when I happened to meet my Guru Mr. Keki Bhote.

I was introduced by late Mr. Ratan Tata to late Mr. Keki R. Bhote, Director, Quality and Value Assurance, Motorola Corporation, U.S.A. Under his studentship I learnt what it really means as the World Class Quality – (in the areas such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability, Product Testing, SQA, New Product Development, Failure and Warranty Analysis).

I also gained knowledge in Design of Experiments (both Shainin- Bhote Technique as well as Classical, started by Sir Ronald Fisher), Life Cycle and Accelerated Testing, Multiple Environmental Overstress Testing, Weibull and other distribution analysis, Failure and warranty analysis. In short, under studentship of my Guru late Mr. Keki Bhote I have become a knowledge worker in World Class Quality and Reliability.

Mr. Bhote has published a number of books. But in the forward to his book titled “The Ultimate Six Sigma Beyond Quality Excellence to Total Business Excellence” (which is published by American Management Association), he writes “I owe special thanks to Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata industries for introducing the spirit and substance of ultimate six sigma in several of his divisions especially at TATA MOTORS, which has the distinction of manufacturing India’s popular car Indica with 100% India fabricated parts. Under brilliant leadership of Mr. Ramesh Parkhi, Telco became an ultimate Six Sigma Bench Mark in India.”

I have no words to express my gratitude to my Guru Late Mr. Keki Bhote as he has given an authority to quote anything from any of his book.

I wish to provide Consultancy to support any organization to solve problems in any of area of World Class Quality or any subset under World Class Quality. I will be available online. When necessary, Case Studies for similar problems can be made available
